The Difference
Between Psychology B.S (Bachelor of science) and Psychology B.A (Bachelor of
Arts)
Let me begin by
saying I’m absolutely in love with every aspect of psychology it really
intrigues me. But, before I chose my major I wasn't aware of the difference
between psychology B.S and psychology B.A. A simple way of explaining it would
be that B.S means Lots of science and Math and B.A is not as much science and math
it's more liberal arts general education courses, and students who chooses this
major most times has to complete a foreign language course. “The B.A. option
usually involves taking fewer courses in psychology and more classes in
subjects outside of the major field area.”(Kendra, 2016) If you were
going to major in Psychology I suggest that you look really hard into which
degree you are looking to pursue, and if you are considering going to graduate
school. “The Bachelor of
Arts in Psychology is a great option for students who have a keen interest in
psychology but also want to explore other disciplines in greater depth. Students
who choose this degree option can also opt to go later on to further study in
law, social work, counseling, education, journalism, political science and
business.” (Kendra 2016) Most people choose to pursue
the B.S degree being that students who earn a B.S. degree in psychology have
greater flexibility and more opportunities.
I found this very interesting! Considering most schools do not explain the BA or BS behind a degree and expect you to already know. The substance of the degree can make all the difference in the content and information you will learn pursuing the degree.
