Fields of social work practice: Schools

BY: CHE

You may agree with this too. It is proven through lots of surveys that school can be a very, very stressful place to the students. From the stage of early adolescence to the gradudation, children have a lot of pressure from the society, teachers, friends and parents. It is very likely to develop depression, anxiety, and many other mental illness while going through school. School social work works at schools and help the students who need help.

School social workers main job is to help parents, teachers, and children confront complex issues such as individual and family problems. They are trained mental health professionals who assist with mental health concerns, behavorial concerns, positive behavioral support, support inside the classroom, and support communicating with parents, teachers, or administrators to find the necessary counseling and therapy needed.

They provide services related to a person’s social, emotional, and life adjustment to school/or society
Most problems that are referred to the social worker are problems of truancy, suspected child abuse, inadequate nutrition, substance abuse, parental neglect, and inappropriate behavior.
