Prompt 9

BY: CHE

"Social work has historically been extremely effective in alleviating poverty and is perhaps citizens' strongest weapon against tackling poverty (aside from government policies, etc). Aristotle, the great Greek philosopher, firmly believed  that the city state comes into being for the sake of life, but exists for the sake of the good life."

The Daily Star explained the importance of social work in its article. Throughout the history, social work has been helping to fight not only povert but lots of other social problems. In modern societies, there are governments that rule the classes under it. The governments’ original job is to provide the people what they need in order to have happy lives. Almost all the governments in our world fail to follow its most basic purpose, especially in the capitalist society where money rules everything. That’s when social work becomes significant in our society; when the government fails to secure the people’s basic human rights, which is all the time.

This news article I found says that promoting the significance of social work can bring the awareness of how important it is to work to bring change for each other’s well-being. I agree with this article. When the world is ruled by a few number of powerful people, the best way for us to make it a better place for ourselves is helping each other.
